transport

Community Transport Gloucestershire represents 28 organisations operating voluntary car schemes and dial-a-ride buses. Last year, more than 230,000 Gloucestershire passengers were carried, 700,000 miles were covered and more than 210,000 journeys completed.

Journeys to hospital, clinics and doctor's surgeries are just part of the picture. People isolated due to lack of access to transport are able to go shopping, socialise, keep fit and meet friends thanks to the services provided - with many of the larger organisations contracted to local authorities. The organisations work with more than 400 volunteers contributing thousands of hours of time, along with around 100 paid staff across the county.
