enterprise began with retailing when the co-operative
shops were founded to supply cheap, unadulterated
food to working people nearly 160 years ago.Today the Midcounties Co-operative operates
30 stores in Gloucestershire.
In addition a number of rural
communities have maintained their village shops
by taking them into community ownership.
