Delivering public services
Many
community enterprises are engaged in delivering
public services under contract to local authorities,
primary care trusts, the Learning and Skills Council,
and other public bodies.
Community enterprises can often offer a
more efficient service, using their community
links to engage more effectively with local people
and providing multiple benefits beyond the requirements
of the contract.
Community Foster Care provide
an unrivalled package of care at low cost under
contract to local authority children's services
while helping to regenerate some of the county's
most disadvantaged communities.
Community Support Services operates
a home support service for older people under
contract to the Supporting People programme and
PCTs.
